Classic Rock Revisited founder Jeb Wright recently caught up with metal radio guru Eddie Trunk. The following is a brief excerpt from the interview:

Jeb: The best news of the year.... HEAVEN AND HELL. You had the guys on your radio show. What can you tell us about this reunion?

Eddie: "I was with them in England last November when they were recording the new songs as well, just amazing. That interview airs on VH1 Classic in April. I'm so excited for this and blown away at how strong the fan reaction has been. It's going to be a great tour, no doubt. These guys are all such legends and they still play and sing great. I'm in the minority because I think they should do a few Ozzy-era tunes, but either way it will crush no doubt. I really think Tony and Geezer are looking forward to doing a long set, and all due respect to Ozzy, but with Dio vocals will not be an issue. It's also a great bill with DOWN and MEGADETH on board."

Jeb: You have had a wild ride and are now are the king of metal radio. One thing you have done is stayed true to your vision and the music you love. How hard was it not to compromise?

Eddie: "From a radio standpoint I could be making better money and be more stable and have better hours if I just focused on doing regular format radio, but my whole reason getting into this 25 years ago was to share music and stories with others from the bands and artists I love. To be able to play and say what I want, and have such a loyal audience, means more to me than anything and has allowed me to carve out a following and name for myself. In a perfect world I would have more time and days on the air, and still do some regular shifts which I also enjoy, but I'm very lucky to have what I have. The show was just added in Boston which is a huge score to have. It's always the biggest challenge to get more cities on board. So many Pds [Program Directors] won't take a chance and give the show a shot and don't realize how many people are out there that want to hear something different. The music and talk and interviews from these artists is really something many want. I'm happy to have two of the top six cities on board [New York & Boston], but we are always trying to spread more. In syndication it's not about how many stations run the show, it's all about where they are. It's also been awesome to be back on XM with a live show on Monday's on channel 41. That has gone great in my second time around with XM and the response has been awesome. There is very little live interactive music programming on either satellite service, so that makes what I do stand out, people can get involved. That show is also talk and music which is what I like doing and the audience responds to. I'm happy and blessed I have what I have and run the show, but I'm always looking for more outlets and opportunities."

Jeb: I want to go WAY back.... I have heard the band that got you totally hooked into hard rock was KISS. For me it was BLACK SABBATH. Why Kiss? What was it about that band that got to you?

Eddie: "It was everything. The look, the sound, the show. Up til that point I was into pop little kid stuff, then a friend turned me on to Destroyer and it all changed. I remember the needle hitting the vinyl, hearing 'Detroit Rock City' and just staring that the album cover. It was all over after that! Kiss was also my first concert 12/16/77 at Madison Square Garden."
