Michigan-based prog-metallers TILES have checked in with the following update:

"Recording sessions for Fly Paper wrapped up May 14th. Jeff (Whittle - bass) and Matthew Parmenter traveled to Toronto on Friday night (May 18th) and worked all day Saturday - with Matthew contributing mellotron and organ parts to three songs, and singing background vocals on Crowded Emptiness. Click here for a brief video of Matthew in action. Paul (Rarick - vocals) and Chris (Herin - guitar) arrived Sunday for a few last minute vocal bits and a song-by-song review to ensure everything was ready for Terry (Brown - RUSH) to begin mixing.

A couple weeks prior, our long-time percussion associate Sonya Mastick ventured to Toronto for the day to lend her 'fresh perspective' and percussion arsenal to (almost) every song. Mark had a quite a few ideas of his own - as did all of us, actually. We went through each song and tried a variety of textures and sounds... from water gongs to carpet gongs, djembe, doumbak, bows-on-cymbals, bell tree, and even a bit of tambourine shaking.

Chris tried no less than five times to introduce the guero into a song - and was voted down each time! So he quit (offering percussion ideas)... For some unknown reason we didn't do any percussion on Window Dressing - so we made up for that omission with a vengeance. Click here for a video of Mark and Sonya's percussion duet as they warmed up.

With Terry off on 'holiday' for a week we won't begin mixing until the first of June. We'll head to Toronto near the middle of the month to render our expert opinions (turn up the guitars, turn down the bass, turn up the guitars again, etc...) and should have the whole thing mixed and mastered by June 30th. In the meantime, Hugh will get the artwork going and we'll start greasing the wheels of marketing and promotion."

As previously reported, the tentative track listing for Fly Paper is: 'In My Shadow', 'Sacred & Mundane', 'Back & Forth', 'Landscrape', 'Markers', 'Dragons, Dreams, and Daring Deeds', 'Hide & Seek'. The album is set for a fall release.
