AFTER FOREVER guitarist Sander Gommans has issued the following comments on the band's new self-titled album as part of an ongoing discussion with the fans on the official After Forever forum:

"It's true that there are less 'highlights' in terms of ultra high notes of Floor in the last to albums, but they are certainly still there. However, in the beginning you want to add your personal expression in every song because you feel you should use them all the time. Through the years, I and also Floor found out that an album sounds better and more interesting if you don't use these extremeties all of the time.

We also use them in another way, Floor might not sing those high notes again and again, but listen to her expression and feeling she uses in the vocal lines the last two album. They sound much more real, much richer. That feeling disappears if you searching to reach your top in heights all of the time.

It's the same with writing songs; we're becoming more and more metal oriented, but that doesn't mean there are more riffs in the songs than for example Prison Of Desire. The riffs are more in balance, and often a more simple riff cound sound much more convicing and 'metal' than a variety of 10 difficult riffs in one song. That is also cool, but only if it's limited to a few songs."
