As previously reported, HELIX recently inked a new deal with Sanctuary Records. A new press release reads as follows:

The Power Of Rock And Roll is Helix’s 11th full length studio album and a return to the platinum and gold plated sound of No Rest for the Wicked and Walking the Razor’s Edge. It features 6 tracks that originally appeared on the 2007 EP, Get Up and includes a re-recorded version of the heavyweight hit single, Heavy Metal Love, which appears in the Trailer Park Boy’s movie, The Big Dirty. Other brain-melting anthems include the deliciously titled 'The Past Is Back To Kick Your Ass', 'Nickles & Dimes', 'Livin’ Life Large' and the title track. All in all The Power Of Rock And Roll is a must for practitioners of cruisin’, party-favour, good-time R ‘n’ R. The Power Of Rock And Roll will be released on August 20th in the UK.

Known for their play hard/party hard ethic coupled with a highly infectious stage show, Helix became Canada’s most successful heavy metal band. Starting life in Kitchner, Ontario in 1974, the Helix Field Band played a relentless and colourful array of local bars, outdoor shows, private parties and rodeo drinking houses until the services of local agent Bill Seip guided the band along a more rewarding path. Shortening their name to the more digestible Helix, a self-financed album, Breaking Loose was released in 1979 with money donated by Seip and the band’s family. Appearing on the H&S; (Helix & Seip) label, the album was re-pressed several times and went on to sell 10,000 copies. Two years later a follow-up H&S; album, White Lace & Black Leather gained Helix further attention and was released in both Germany and the UK. Finally a worldwide deal with Capitol Records brought the band further widespread acclaim with albums such as No Rest for the Wicked (1983) and Walkin’ the Razor’s Edge (1984), platinum and gold sales and Juno Award nominations. Although having undergone numerous line-up changes, Helix carry on under the exact same hedonistic ethic, delivering contagious metal albums and a veracious rock ‘n’ roll show. The band has just signed an eight record deal with Sanctuary Records.
