Classic Rock Revisited founder Jed wright recently caught up with GREAT WHITE vocalist Jack Russell. The following is an excerpt from the interview:

Jeb: The lineup for Great White has changed over the years. Looking back what is the difference between this one and the others?

Jack: "This is the classic lineup that most people are familiar with. To me, this is the best incarnation of Great White. The band was Michael Lardie, Mark Kendall, Audie Desbrow and Tony Montana. Sean McNabb has been in the band longer than Tony was in the band. Tony is a guitar player who played bass to get the gig where Sean is a bass player. Sean felt like more of a brother when it came down to it. He is an amazing player and he has some great chops. When I think of Great White then I think of this group of people. I don't want to make any records with anybody other than these guys. Michael and I started writing some songs and it just made sense to get ahold of everybody else and it just was the right time. Coincidently it was the twenty-fifth anniversary."

Jeb: Why did you choose Back to the Rhythm as the title track?

Jack: "There were several reasons, actually. I wanted to get back to the basics. I also wanted to make the album about doing this for the right reasons. I wanted to get back to making music for the reasons we first made music. It was not about the accolades, the money or the women. We started because we loved to make music and that is the reason we got back together again. The likelihood of us selling a million records is pretty remote. We just love to make music and we love to play it on stage. I am keeping things down to the basics and I am having a great time."
