news life in black funeral fog

Atlantic Canada-based black metallers FUNERAL FOG have sent BW&BK; the following statement:

“Here Lies Funeral Fog: December 1, 1999 – December 1, 2007. You will find this carved on a tomb somewhere on the foggy shores of Atlantic Canada. Eight years to the day since their inception, the decision was a consensus among all members due to lack of time and various personal issues. As the fog rolls away and the horns cease to sound, the black metal purists shall drift away into oblivion.

Originally formed as a duo consisting of Krall (guitar/bass) and Nokturnis (vocals), the band released their debut Under the Black Veil in 2003. The album was widely accepted due to its echoing screams reflecting back to Norway’s second wave. The band would later grow in members with the addition of drummer Shithammer in 2003, and guitarist Deimus in 2004. After signing to Czech label Long Ago Records the band hit the studio and released a long awaited and very welcomed second release Channelling Ancient Shadows in July 2007. Unknown at the time, the album was to be their swan song.

Of the hundreds of existing Canadian black metal acts only a handful have matured beyond the maple leaf and Funeral Fog had earned that privilege. Regardless of their passing, for all the fans and to all those who have listened, the blackened stain left behind will never be washed clean. All hail the Fog!"
