PyroMusic.net's Spiritech recently caught up with BEHEMOTH frontman Adam "Nergal" Darski to discuss the band's upcoming Australian dates, their new album The Apostasy and much more.

The following is an excerpt from the interview:

Q: Okay, let's dive right in then. Why did you choose the title The Apostasy for the new album?

A: "It's all about rebelling against institution, of church in this case, but I would say that The Apostasy has more meanings than just regular rebelling against the church. It's pretty much resisting against any kind of limitations or pressures. So if you think of Behemoth having this rebelling spirit... from the early days it's always been about being against something. I just think it was right to put this kind of title to our record. It feels right man, it just feels right."

Q: Indeed. Now you recently experienced a first when the new album registered on the American Billboard Charts. Was that a surreal thing?

A: "Yeah. What can I say, I'm happy man! (laughs) The fact that music of such an extreme nature, this crazy music, makes it to mainstream charts like Billboard is just unbelievable and unheard of. Especially as we're definitely the first and only Polish band that did that. But there's obviously hardly any Extreme Metal bands that do it: there's CANNIBAL CORPSE, NILE and that's pretty much it. There's a few more bands, but not that many. Obviously, we feel very special because of that."
