Dutch metallers VORTEX are confirmed for the Dokk'em Open Air Festival, which is being held in Raard (near Dokkum), Holland on August 9th, 2008.

A message from festival organizers reads: "Vortex, established no later than 1979, is one of Holland's earliest heavy metal outfits. From the formation on they were active until 1990. Many demo tapes were released and the band was featured on legendary compilations Heavy Metal Holland-Part II (1982) and Dutch Steel (1984). Two full-lengths were released in 1985 and 1986: Metal Bats and Open The Gate. Remember the video for the last one's title track? It was shown on MTV and Sky Channel. In those days quite an achievement. Their live performance was great: heavy metal all the way! In 1998, only having done a couple of reunion gigs, the band discovered they were still of value to the worldwide metal scene and decided to start playing again. That year some re-recorded tracks were released on The Dawning album. Tours were planned and are still going on. A 10" was released, the two first albums got a re-release and in 2003 a brand new CD Hammer Of The North saw the light of day. Vortex is back! A new studio album will be released soon! Experience this piece of Dutch history!"

Acts confirmed for the Dokk'em Open Air Festival now include: ANGER AS ART, DIAMOND HEAD, HEIDEVOLK, INCURSION DEMENTA, TRAIL OF TEARS, VENGEANCE and VORTEX.
