Greek-based Rockpages Web Magazine spoke to WINGER mainman Kip Winger recently. Here is an excerpt from the interview:

Rockpages: Let’s concentrate a bit on the new album. As a first approach, what I can see is that this more or less follows the path of This Conversation Seems Like A Dream or Songs From The Ocean Floor. Also it seems to me that with each one of your personal works you draw an even more distinct distance from the Winger way. Is this something intentional? What’s the difference between Kip Winger as a solo artist and Kip Winger as one of the Winger band? Does Kip try to reach out to a different audience or is he trying to mature along with his old fans reaching new grounds in the process?

Kip Winger: "From the Moon To The Sun is following the path of This Conversation Seems Like A Dream and Songs From the Ocean Floor in the way that I refuse to go by any kind of format, I’m fierce about keeping these records individual and based on experimentation and furthering my musical experience. It is kind of a cathartic thing for me, I don’t want to make formulae music, I’m not that kind of an artist. With the Winger thing, when I’m witting with Reb (Reb Beach, guitar, also WHITESNAKE), it has a sound by merit of the fact that he is playing guitar so there is a formulae there because it is in the confines of four guys in the band basically. However, with my solo records I am committed to furthering my personal musical growth. I’m not trying to reach any one particular audience, because I think that nowadays a person that’s ten years old and a person that’s eighty years old can be listening to any kind of music. It really comes down to what that individual is resonating to and as an artist you are lucky when people are resonating to your music."
