SEPULTURA's MySpace page has an exclusive interview with drummer Jean Dolabella. Here are a few excerpts from the chat:

Do you prefer to play old school Sepultura or newer material (like Dante, Roorback, Nation, Against, Roots)?

Jean: "I like playing all of it! It's very hard for me to say what I like better out of 25 years of history. It feels great to play songs out of Dante XXI, but playing any of the stuff we that wrote together for the new album is awesome to me."

With you as a new drummer, how will the sound of the band change on the new album?

Jean: "Well, it changed, but the essence is still here. Igor (Cavalera - former drummer) and I have totally different back grounds, even though we play hard and aggressive, it's completely different. There's no way to play like someone else and this is never gonna be my intention. There's a little bit more of dynamics and we recorded the whole album with the "click", so the tempos are very precise and it breathes better."

Did you write any music or lyrics on the new album?

Jean: "We wrote all the songs together jamming and finding the best parts. Since the first day, we recorded everything we played, so we could come back to ideas anytime we wanted. It worked very well making the whole process very relaxed. All the lyrics were written by Andreas (Kisser - guitar) and Derrick (Green - vocals)."

Is there a Sepultura song you would like to play live, but isn't on the setlist?

Jean: "Since we have to make a set list that have a little of all records, sometimes some songs don't work live or on that particular set list. But yeah, it would be great to play songs like 'We Who Are Not As Others', 'Cut Throat', 'Corrupted', 'Nomad' and some others."

Have you read the book A Clockwork Orange to get inspiration as well?

Jean: "Yes! and I loved it! when I saw the movie long time ago, I didn't really care about it. Now that I read the book and watched it again, I loved it! It's a very unique experience to write a record based on a book or movie. It gives you a lot of insight and ideas but at the same time it makes it focused on that vibe. Which is great, making the whole record very solid."
