Report: METALLICA - Death Magnetic Storms Australian Charts, Hits #6 On One Day Sales

Australia's Undercover.com correspondent Paul Cashmere has filed the following report:

"The new Metallica album Death Magnetic has debuted at number 6 in Australia with just one day on sale.

Death Magnetic broke tradition with the usual Australian release day of Saturday when it was released everywhere in the world on Friday, September 12.

As the ARIA chart is based on sales from Saturday to Friday, the Metallica album earned the number 6 position from sales for September 12 alone.

Death Magnetic sold 4849 units nationally. There were no digital sales.

Victoria was the biggest state for the band with 2,324 units sold. Next was New South Wales with 1,137 sales. Then it went Queensland, Western Australia and South Australia. (Tasmania is included in Victorian sales, ACT is included in NSW sales and the Northern Territory is included in Western Australian sales).

Elsewhere in the chart, the 17-year old Black album was at number 43; Master of Puppets is at 66, Ride The Lightning is at 73 and ...And Justice For All is at 77.

In the DVD chart, S&M; is at 25 and The Videos 1989-2004 is at number 29."
