According to Kirriemuirherald.co.uk, the Bon Scott statue project is moving along at a steady pace at the second attempt of fund-raising following an earlier disappointment.

DD8 Music, who are running the statue project, have decided to raise the money for the statue through Paypal rather than the initial choice of Kickstarter.

Through Kickstarter a lot of the money raised had to go towards fees for the service. So, while DD8 Music almost raised enough for the statue itself they fell at the final hurdle of that extra few thousand.

But by fundraising through Paypal is it guaranteed that every penny gained will go straight into the coffers for the statue rather than website fees.

At the moment the current total is sitting at £16,667 and there is a number of ways that people can get involved to donate.

You can send a cheque made out to DD8 Music - Bon Scott Statue Appeal to DD8 Music, Bon Scott Statue Appeal, 29 Bellies Brae, Kirriemuir, DD8 4EB. Please enclose your name, address, amount donated and reward chosen with the cheque.

It is also possible to make a direct bank transfer to the following account: Account Name: DD8 Music - Bon Scott Statue Appeal, account number: 10106466; sort code: 80-06-77 or for international transfers: BIC: LOYDGB2L; IBAN: GB82BOFS80067710106466.

Or online you can make a payment via Paypal so when making the payment please include a note saying what reward you are choosing. Visit www.dd8music.co.uk for the link to Paypal.

Any money left after the statue has been installed will be donated to the fantastic Nordoff Robbins music therapy charity.

Everyone who donates to the Bon Scott campaign will have their name listed and placed in a time capsule that will be buried under the statue.

And as an extra incentive there is also a variety of rewards available depending on how much you donate. These range from your name on the DD8 Music website for £1 to a limited edition 350mm bronze replica of the statue and your name engraved on the plinth as a permanent recognition and reminder of your donation to the project to the tune of £2,500.

DD8 Music have been working on the idea of bringing a statue of Bon Scott to Kirriemuir since last year and sculptor John McKenna is set to begin work very soon.
