Hannes Grossmann, drummer for German death prog band Alkaloid, has revealed a new drum playthrough video for the song "Alter Magnitudes". The song is taken from Alkaloid's debut album, The Malkuth Grimoirem and features some of Grossmann's most extreme drumming chops on display.

Hannes comments: "This is an instrumental version of our song "Alter Magnitudes". I just took the vocals out for the video to make the drums more clear -  which makes sense in a drum video, doesn't it? This is probably the only tune on our album which can be considered 'tech-death', but the technicallity makes it a perfect song for a drum play-through. It was written by our guitarist Christian Muenzner and not just demands a high level performance on the drums - the guitars and bass go crazy too. But most important: I really dig the songs riffs and melodies."  

Alkaloid’s lineup is like an all-star team of progressive death metal masters. Fronting the act is vocalist / guitarist Morean (Dark Fortress, Noneuclid) while Christian Muenzner (Spawn of Possession, ex-Obscura, ex-Necrophagist) and Danny Tunker (Aborted, Ex-God Dethroned) also take on guitar duties. Alkaloid also features Linus Klausenitzer (Obscura, Noneuclid) on bass and Hannes Grossmann (Blotted Science, ex-Obscura, ex-Necrophagist) on drums.

 

 

Alkaloid raised the funds for The Malkuth Grimoire via Indiegogo and released the album independently. Thanks to the ovewhelming support of fans, the band was able to raise crush their original goal of €12,000. The Malkuth Grimoire was released in Europe via Apostasy Records/EDEL in May and is available in stores today in North America.  The album can be streamed in it's entirety below:
