BLACK OIL Team Up With KORN’s Ray Luzier For New Single; To Be Produced By ILL NINO’s C. Machado

Cali-based groove metal band Black Oil have teamed up with Ray Luzier (Korn, KXM) to work on a single that will be produced by Ill Nino's C. Machado. Details to be revealed soon.

Black Oil, whose album Resist To Exist is out now, have announced Santi Guardiola (DH Peligro, Thorne, Phenagen) as their new drummer.

Santiago Guardiola was born in August of 1984 in Cordoba, Argentina, where he began his drumming career with private lessons at the age of 13. He quickly earned the respect of fellow musicians and jumped into playing with their bands. Throughout high school, he was actively involved with the school band, assuming the drumming position each year before continuing his music studies from 2002- 2005 at La Colmena, also from his hometown of Cordoba. Aside from school, he played in several rock cover bands in gigs throughout his hometown.

In 2004, he made his debut in the Cosquin Rock Festival with his first touring band Astenia, a punk rock band packing a heavy metal sound, bringing a unique style of music to the likes of Argentina. Together, the band released 2 albums while they continued to be invited to be part of the Cosquin Rock Festival for several years while they continued to tour Argentina and Chile- taking their place several other major rock festivals and opening for international acts such as, Marky Ramone, The Ataris, Suicidal Tendencies, The Misfits and Rage Against the Machine. In 2006, he joined the thrash/groove metal band SAYON where he also toured and played for a year before contributing to a few recorded singles. He was featured in a hip-hop/jazz resident band in a jazz club in 2009 while simultaneously drumming for another rock band called Fat Grass. Fat Grass, which features a deep, psychedelic metal-rock sound, went on to record a full-length album while performing at local venues throughout Argentina.

Despite his success in Argentina, the possibility of furthering his career with more exposure and education drew his attention towards Hollywood, CA. Determined to succeed, he gladly rose to the challenge- leaving all the comforts of home behind to pursue his passion for music. In 2010, he enrolled in the drum program at the well-established and respected Musicians Institute in Hollywood, CA; where he graduated in 2011. During his time as a student he continually auditioned until he eventually landed a drumming position with the popular, hard-core thrash-metal band Peligro, formed and fronted by DH Peligro, known from one of the most hard core punk rock bands across the globe: Dead Kennedys, whom he’s been a drum tech for since 2011. His talent and reputation opened the door to yet another opportunity in 2012. He received the call to fill in on the drums for the band Thorne whose front man is none other than the pro BMX legend, Rick Thorne, he is performed and toured with both Thorne and Peligro in underground and major rock festivals, such as Tidal wave, Punk Rock Picnic and Ink-n-Iron shows throughout the US while still actively continued auditioning for upcoming as well as established artists, in 2014 he got a call from Industrial/Hardcore band Heavenly Trip To Hell to fill in for local shows and a SoCal tour with Dead Kennedys in early 2015. His unparalleled style of drumming earned the respect of Dan Shinder, CEO Executive Producer of Drum Talk TV who invited him to work The NAMM Show in 2015 where he conducted interviews with some of the greatest drummers and drum vendors for Drum Talk TV in both English and Spanish. Immediately following The NAMM Show, he joined the North American Tour for Phenagen, an industrial rock band from France, where they toured the US throughout the month of February.

Currently, he continues to be the drummer for Peligro and recently joined the reputable metal band Black Oil. Black Oil is presently working on writing a new album that will be featuring additional distinguished, world-renowned rock stars from both North and South America. He is presently working with the band and their label in routing a South American tour and conjunctively providing drum tracking as well as drum doctor sessions for artists and bands, worldwide.
