Cleveland’s online paper Cleveland.com (www.cleveland.com) reports that while BLACK SABBATH’s live cover of the CARL PERKINS classic ‘Blue Suede Shoes’ is featured as an extra on the bonus DVD that comes with the new box set, Black Box: The Complete Original Black Sabbath 1970-1978 (Warner Bros./Rhino), Sabbath guitarist TONY IOMMI claims that the footage was the result of some fooling around during a taping of the German TV program, The Beat Club.

"It was just a joke at the time," Iommi says. "They were doing a camera check in the studio, so we were just messing around. We used to play ‘Blue Suede Shoes' at shows as a bit of a laugh. So, of course, they recorded it, and the next thing we see is it coming out of the TV, us playing ‘Blue Suede Shoes’. I thought, ‘Oh no, those Germans don't have much of a sense of humor. They probably thought it was one of our regular songs.'"

Black Sabbath's new eight-disc box set, Black Box: The Complete Original Black Sabbath (1970-1978), is available now through Rhino Records.
