hot flashes news

Here we go again! But where does the time go? It's seems like yesterday that we were ringing in 2012! Like last year, we're doing the same holiday-themed countdown of the finest slabs of metal this past year had to offer, voted by the devout scribes here at BraveWords.com! Hence the name The 12 Days Of Metal. What does "slab" actually mean? We're talking studio albums. No compilations, rerecordings, live albums etc… Just pure metal, all killer no filler!

These are the 12 albums (yeah, we still use that old school term!) that you must have in your collection!

Let's rock!

2012 … The 12 Days Of Metal

7) KREATOR - Phantom Antichrist (Nuclear Blast)

The numbers say it alll … KREATOR's thirteenth studio album Phantom Antichrist, entered the official German Media Control charts at #5. The opus debuted at#130 on the Billboard Top 200 chart, but even more notable is having secured a place in Nuclear Blast history with their debut on the Billboard Heatseekers chart at #1 – the label’s highest ever debut on any Billboard chart. In Canada, Phantom Antichrist came in at #128 on the Top 200 Albums Chart.

In his review Mark Gromen wrote:

A song about ecology (‘Death To The World’) and a pair of tunes containing acoustic guitar (to start ‘United In Hate’ and briefly within ‘The Few, The Proud, The Broken’)? Is this KREATOR, the 30 year old German thrash band? Well, the six other proper tunes (ignoring the short ‘Mars Mantra’ instrumental intro), leave no doubt, although if you’re hoping for a wall-to-wall shred-fest, look elsewhere. No mere copycat of what’s come since the 2001 “reformation” (reuniting with original drummer Ventor and discarding the experimental nineties approach), despite the title, this isn’t nearly as vicious as Violent Revolution, nor Enemy Of God.
