GUNS N' ROSES, BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, CRASH KELLY Alumni Comprise Judging Panel For 2016 SLAM On AIR

A new two-tiered online judging initiative is bringing internationally renowned music industry professionals into the fold of the fifth annual SLAM on AIR original songwriting and performing contest in Airdrie, Alberta.

Steve Gilliss, marketing director for SLAM (Supporting Local Area Musicians), said the organization has worked with many international artists in the past few years and wanted to create a way for original music from SLAM on AIR participants to circulate through that network.

Bands or musicians can submit up to two original songs in MP3 format, or a video file if submitting a music video, until August 15th.

Once submissions have closed, the songs will be reviewed by a variety of industry professionals, including former Guns N’ Roses guitarist Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal, former Black Label Society guitarist Nick Catanese, Crash Kelly frontman Sean Kelly (pictured above), and promoter Donnie Frizzell.

Once the judges have made their selections from the field of songs, the contest will be narrowed to six finalists which will be announced at Airdrie Fest on September 10th. Finalists will have the opportunity to perform live on September 17th, when a winner will be crowned. Leran more at Airdrie City View and/or Slam In Airdrie.
