HAGGARD is a 17 piece symphonic metal band out of Germany with three studio album under their belt. Four if you count Live In Mexico from 2002. In a recent discussion with BW&BK; about the band’s new album, Eppur Si Muove, founder Asis Nasseri apologised to the fans for Live In Mexico, admitting it was a fake.

“That album was a compromise,” says Nasseri. “We wanted to do a live album, so we brought a film team from Berlin with us to Mexico and used local sound engineers while we were there. We recorded two gigs over two days and found out that the sound team had recorded them on two tracks. They had their instructions but that’s what they did, so we couldn’t change anything. That meant the high stuff was too loud, my voice wasn’t loud enough…all these things. It was a big problem because the film team had cost the label a lot of money but we couldn’t use the sound. I didn’t want to screw up the label’s promotion of the band, but it was very hard to agree to doing all these studio overdubs and come out with what basically a fake live album. I apologise to the fans for doing that, because it’s definitely not what they should have gotten.”
“The limited edition of Eppur Si Muove has DVD with live footage of us playing at Wacken in 1998. That was our first big concert, and it’s pure live Haggard. I think it might make up for the Live In Mexico thing.”
