JIMI HENDRIX - Handwritten Lyrics To “Crosstown Traffic” Could Fetch £35,000 At Auction

Two scraps of paper which Jimi Hendrix used to write the lyrics for a song are expected to sell for up to £35,000, reports Mirror.co.uk.

The guitar legend used the crumpled notepaper to pen a draft version of “Crosstown Traffic”, which featured on his iconic Electric Ladyland album. The track was recorded in London in 1967 and reached number #37 in the UK charts when it was released as a single the following year.

Hendrix wrote the first verse and chorus and an unused second verse - complete with scribbles and deletions - on 26 lines of the paper. The lyrics are being sold by an unnamed collector in an online auction.

Auctioneer Ted Owen said yesterday: “Hendrix wrote “Crosstown Traffic” in New York where it is an expression for traffic flow. He often wrote an outline for a song based on flashbacks of things he had seen or experienced.
