Fans of the legendary rock star Jimi Hendrix will be given a rare glimpse into his domestic life when his London apartment is opened permanently to the public, reports Independent.co.uk.
The flat in Mayfair, central London, has been carefully restored to the condition it was in when he lived there with his girlfriend Kathy Etchingham in 1969. The apartment is in the same block as the home owned by George Frideric Handel, a German composer who wrote many of his masterpieces there during the seventeenth century. His flat will also be ready to view as part of the exhibition.
The £2.4 million Handel & Hendrix in London restoration has been completed with a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund and donations. Visitors will have the chance to view an exhibition tracing Hendrix’s life in London between 1968 and 1969, which includes previously unseen photographs of the "Foxy Lady" singer taken at the flat.
