With JUDAS PRIEST's recent magnum opus Nostradamus still sinking in, BW&BK; recently asked the molten metal trio of guitarists K.K. Downing and Glenn Tipton, along with the Metal God himself, singer Rob Halford, what is the best playback space for such a monumental concept album. Their responses follow:

K.K. Downing: "I just love it in the car. You used to love driving when you're young and now it's boring. So there's nothing better than cranking it up so loud in your car that you can't hear anything at all. Even if the engine stopped running you wouldn't know. I just think when you are driving - and we've created some good driving songs like 'Livin' After Midnight', 'Breaking The Law', 'You've Got Another Thing Coming'. That's what a lot of it was about in the '70s and '80s, creating good driving music. Especially in the States, there are so many boring miles 'cause everywhere is so spread out. People go visit their auntie or uncle and it's three-four hours drive. Even if you go the store in America, it's a half hour away! So, definitely in the car, blast it up!"

Glenn Tipton: "To be honest, I'm not sure if this is a car album. I haven't played it in a car, but the reason I say is because the sound system I trust the most is in my Range Rover which I had an argument with a tree recently and it's the body shop. I haven't got anther car that I trust the system on. But to be honest, it's a headphones album and a big system album. If you really want to get off on it, play it on a big system - I don't mean loud, I just mean it's got the subs in there. There are sounds on there that you might not be able to hear on a normal system. Certain tracks have so much more going for them if they have that big cinema element. It's what we tried to capture when we produced this album. It's drama and you need plenty of bottom end to listen to it and get the true feeling of this album. That's when you can really escape into another world. Big system, crank it up, darken the room and just sit there and experience. With a pint and maybe a bit of snooker or the football round-up."

Rob Halford: "I have this great sound system at my house in Phoenix and the whole house is shaking to the ground. When you're in the 'Gods Of War' sequence and you hear the battle, you feel like you are in the middle of World War III. It's great!"
