MARKY RAMONE On Punk Rock Blitzkrieg: My Life As A Ramone Book - “As Sure I'm Sitting Here, If There's Anything False In It, May God Strike Me Dead Now”

Earlier this year, Marky Ramone issued what is fast becoming known as the definitive book on the Ramones experience, Punk Rock Blitzkrieg: My Life As A Ramone. Speaking with Songfacts’ Greg Prato, Marky defends the “definitive” tag placed on the book.

“It sounds like I'm bragging or patting myself on the back, but it is - I've read all of them. There were some good points brought up in a lot of them, but this one, being in the band for 15 years and observing everything, I guess just time has proven that it is the most legitimate one, because I was there for that many years.

I've seen a lot, I've recorded nine studio albums, five live albums, being in [the film] Rock ’N’ Roll High School, working with Phil Spector, being on "I Wanna Be Sedated" - there's a lot of heavy stuff in that book. It's coming from one of the Ramones, so that's important. And as sure I'm sitting here, if there's anything false in it, may God strike me dead now.”

Canadian fans should also keep an eye out for Marky, as he will appearing on August 6th at Phi Centre at 7 PM in Montreal, to sign his book and also answer questions as part of a Q&A with journalist Kim Kelly. Then, just a few days later on August 9th, Marky will be performing all the Ramones classics with his band, Marky Ramones' Blitzkrieg (with Andrew WK), at the Heavy Montreal Festival.

Also, a new, all-animated video clip has been issued for the song "I Wanna Win the Lottery" by Marky Ramone & the Intruders, which can be viewed below:

"Back in the nineties my friend won the NYS Lottery," explains Marky about the song. "I was struck by how his life changed overnight. It inspired me to write the song. It’s a universal daydream. The song was co-produced by me and my buddy, Lars Frederkisen from Rancid. A few years ago I met Laurent in Paris. He was a fan and came to my show. We share the same love of movies and anime. He asked if I would like him to do a video of 'Wanna Win the Lottery' and of course I told him yes."
