SHINEDOWN Explain New Single “Cut The Cord” – “The Song Is Brutally Honest And Unapologetic”

Atlantic recording artist Shinedown has announced the release of their long awaited new single. “Cut The Cord” – the multi-platinum certified rock band’s first new music in three years – is available now on the iTunes Store and at all DSPs.

Produced by Shinedown’s own Eric Bass, “Cut The Cord” heralds the follow-up to 2012’s RIAA gold certified Amaryllis.  The as-yet-untitled new album will arrive later this year.  Further details will be announced shortly.

Shinedown frontman Brent Smith explains:  “’Cut The Cord’ is a wakeup call reminding us all that we can control our own destiny by finding the courage and tenacity to destroy whatever it is that’s holding us back.   The process may not be pretty or perfect or even easy, but absolutely necessary.  The song is brutally honest and unapologetic, which is what Shinedown has always been. We really wanted the video to match the intensity of the song.  We’ve worked with [director] Darren Doane on several of our videos so there’s a real trust between us and it only took a few takes.  Honestly, I don’t think we could have done too many more – we gave it everything we had, literally playing so hard that it physically hurt.”

Shinedown is currently getting ready to embark on a very special summer tour, their first major trek in more than two years. The dates see Shinedown visiting theatres and other intimate venues across the country, performing a unique set that will include classic hits, deep cuts, and best of all, new songs from the band’s upcoming fifth studio album.

The tour gets underway July 9th at St. Petersburg, FL’s Mahaffey Theater and then continues through late August (see attached itinerary). Support on most dates comes from special guests Nothing More. In addition, Shinedown has also slated a series of top-billed festival performances, with highlights including Cadott, WI’s Rock Fest XV (July 16th), Walker, MN’s Moondance Jam (July 18th), and Syracuse, NY’s KROCKATHON 20 (July 25th). What’s more, the trek includes a one-night-only hard rock spectacular, with Shinedown headlining a multi-artist bill at Maryland Heights, MO’s Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre that also includes Three Days Grace, Buckcherry, Nothing More, and Hurt (August 1st).

Shinedown will return to the road in October for an additional pair of festivals, Louisville, KY’s Louder Than Life (October 4th) and Sacramento, CA’s Monster Energy Aftershock 2015 (October 24th). The band is already set to kick off 2016 by crossing the Atlantic for the UK’s annual “Carnival of Madness Tour,” joining fellow hard rock icons Black Stone Cherry and Atlantic Records labelmates Halestorm for arena dates slated through mid-February.
