SLASH - "If My Kids Wanted To Be In A Band I'd Say 'Just Know There's Nothing To Be Gained From It Except Personal Enjoyment"

Guitar icon Slash is featured in a new interview with Independent.ie discussing a host of subjects including his solo career, Guns N' Roses, his relationship with pop juggernaut Michael Jackson, and family. An excerpt from the story is available below:

Slash: "If my kids wanted to get into rock 'n' roll, I'd say 'Look, if you want to pick up an instrument, play it because you love the sound it makes. If you want to write songs and be in a band, that's fine too. Just know there's nothing to be gained from it except personal enjoyment.'

"The chance of getting anywhere with it are so slim that you really need to be doing it for the love of it and not have any expectations. But they're my kids, and I'm going to support them whatever they decide to do. Right now, I don't see them headed in that direction. But then it didn't click with me either 'til I was almost 15 years old."

Slash featuring Myles Kennedy And The Conspirators unleashed World On Fire on September 16th via Slash’s own label Dik Hayd International, distributed through Caroline. Clocking in at #10 on the U.S. Billboard Top 200 Albums chart, the new album marks Slash’s third straight album to debut in the Top Ten.  Other top ten entries around the world are as follows:

Australia - #2

Germany - #2

Switzerland - #1

Ireland - #2

Japan - #3

Finland - #3

Austria - #5

The World On Fire disc marks Slash’s third solo offering and second album with his official band The Conspirators which features Myles Kennedy (vocals), Brent Fitz (drums) and Todd Kerns (bass). For World On Fire, Slash and the band worked with producer Michael “Elvis” Baskette (Alter Bridge, Falling In Reverse, Incubus) to create a powerful new turn for the band in 17 songs.

World On Fire is the follow-up to 2012’s Apocalyptic Love which debuted at #4 on the Billboard Top 200 chart and earned Slash two No. 1 US rock radio hits - his first-ever solo - with “You’re A Lie” and “Standing In The Sun”. Slash officially began recording as a solo artist with his self-titled 2010 debut album which employed a different vocalist on each track of his first album including Ozzy Osbourne, Fergie and Myles Kennedy among others.

Catch Slash featuring Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators on the road through the fall. Expect more dates to be announced for early 2015.
