Departdead Music Group is a Sweden based independent record label/distribution/management/concert promotion company with an in-house music studio and professional producers. Focusing on the genres of rock, hard rock and metal, the company was formed in 2012 in Sweden by musicians Per Karlsson (drummer in BLACKWATER), Peter Uvén (bass player in Blackwater) and producer Ronnie Bjornstrom (Garageland/DMG Studios) with the intention of bringing great bands and artists a fresh outlet and solution to make their musical presence heard and displayed.
Per Karlsson states: “I’ve played in bands for a long time, toured and recorded all over the world, with big bands and big studios, signed recording and publishing contracts. Been through ups and downs. I know the pitfalls within the industry, and I absolutely hate to see a band or artist being taken advantage of. Therefore the birth of DMG. For musicians, By musicians.”
DMG has widens its business operations by launching Departdead Music Group America with headquarters in San José, Costa Rica. DMG pins Mr. Pablo Chang as President of Operations and Head of A&R; for DMG Latin America and the USA.
“It’s always been my intention to branch out in Latin America and especially Costa Rica since it’s a country that’s close to my heart," Karlsson adds. "I have previously lived there, travelled there many times and played there in 2011 with my good friends in ‘Akasha’. I’ve always known that Latin America produces great music, and I want to get it out there for people to hear. DMG also wants its European bands to get exposure in the Latin American market. Mr. Pablo Chang has been a good friend of mine for quite some time, and I trust him to run this division flawlessly. He has a great eye and ear for talent. I am very excited about this new venture.”First signed act to join the DMGA are Costa Rica-based metallers FRACTAL REALITY (more details at Fractalrealityband.com).
