UNLOCKING THE TRUTH Severing Ties With Sony Less Than A Year After Signing Record Deal

According to an update from Billboard, Brooklyn's Unlocking The Truth  - featuring guitarist Malcolm Brickhouse, 13, bassist Alec Atkins, 13, and drummer Jarad Dawkins, 12 - are in the process of cutting ties with their label, Sony. The band signed a two album deal with Sony in the summer of 2014. According to a report by the New York Daily News issued at that time (found here) the trio required the permission of a judge at the Manhattan Supreme Court to sign the deal because they are minors.

"Our attorneys are working on our exit from Sony now," guitarist, songwriter and singer Malcolm Brickhouse said at the March 14th world premiere of Breaking a Monster, a documentary on how the band rose from playing the sidewalks of Times Square to the main stage of Coachella and Vans Warped Tour.

Band manager Alan Sacks confirmed they were in the process of leaving Sony, but said there were no other details to give.
