FALSE PREGNANCY - Dance Your Meat Off!!!

I love grindcore as much as the next guy... well, chances are I love grindcore more than the next guy. I really, really love grindcore. I don't love immature "shocking" concepts anymore, though, so Estonia's False Pregnancy have a big strike against them right away with their song titles and band name. But the bio drops names like Nasum and Rotten Sound, so I figured it could be a decent trade; I'm a fair man when it comes to this kind of thing. I'll ignore your stupid lyrics if your tunes shred my face off.

False Pregnancy do not shred my face off; rather, the songs come across as a kind of rote guttural DM take on grind, the end result bringing to mind slam bands (just in case you, like me, haven't thought of that term in two years), or, at their best, passable gore-grind, but certainly not Nasum. Things pick up and I start to warm up to False Pregnancy (just change the name) more when the sounds evoke gurgly, punx-can't-quite-blast gore-grind. But the end result (and a huge part of this is because of the image) is ineffective death-grind that races past, makes a fart joke, and is completely forgotten 30 minutes later.
