NECROSIC - Putrid Decimation

There's no way this is not going to be great: a grimy death metal EP put together by a band made up of Eric Cutler of Autopsy and members of Impaled and Gravehill. And great it is, very great: opener “Vomit Transmutation” pretty much makes it clear that this is going to sound quite a bit like Autopsy, but who's complaining? Not me: this is raging, hard-hitting death metal with just enough sewer-grade punk flowing through its riffs, beats, and dirty veins to keep anyone who loves any of those three bands mentioned above happy.

“Spawn Of Radiation” gets a bit more '91 -ion DM, for a minute at least, and the band handles that sound excellently too: this tune is a parade of great death metal riffs, and the almost-melodic middle section adds some of the haunting chill that Cutler does so well with Autopsy. That song also shows the band's skill with writing as it clocks in at 6:18 but never drags, and manages to start exciting and get even more exciting as it moves along. “Squirming In Your Guts” handles both fast and mid-tempo sections with great power, and “My Casket Drains” starts off with a very punk riff but goes into a classic '90s death metal sound, Necrosic totally nailing it like they do everything on this superb EP.
