Formed in '85, as part of the second wave of Philly area hair metal acts, Sic Vikki were a regional draw after the likes of Cinderella, Britny Fox and Heaven's Edge had migrated to more lofty endeavors than the South Jersey club circuit. At the end of 80s and into the early '90s, they were co-managed by Bill Aucoin (yes, the same guy that pioneered KISS' early success). Truth be told, the band issued a pair of CDs ('93 Kiss Me In French and two years later, the grunge-embracing Streetside Picasso), although neither captured the sound they're known for (at least in these parts). Enter this 27 track download, courtesy on iTunes, offering unreleased (ie. club day material) and rough live renditions of cheesy, often acoustic-tinged ballads / sex-crazed anthems, undoubtedly nixed by corporate suits (perhaps Aucoin?) who were looking for the next big MTV payday. Witness “Aphrodisiac”, “Blow Me Away”, "Sex At The Wheel” and live copies of “Hang The Bitch” and album closing “Fast Women”.

There's a fair amount of tooth decaying, saccharine, Trixter meets Bon Jovi here too. The production quality fluctuates and a few of those old demo tapes haven't survived the years completely intact, judging from the occasional drop outs. A faithful cover of The Beatles “Dear Prudence” adds nothing (apart from perspective on an era eager to get airplay with other people's music, no matter how far afield the respective genres might have been). Mildly interesting, but in a time capsule: Look-What-I Found, way.
