In a post at the official ANNIHILATOR fan forum, founder/guitarist Jeff Waters clears up the mystery of why the band's classic first album is called Alice In Hell, yet the character in the song is named Alison:

"I decided to name the CD Alice In Hell because of the Alice In Wonderland similarity. I figured it would be cool to have the actual song named like a person's first and last name. Alice Hell was my first thought but then Alison Hell sounded better. But, (original singer) John Bates was the guy who came up with most of the song's lyrics and lyrical ideas. He came up with the Alice In Hell idea AND the scream at the end: 'ALISONNNNNNNNNNNN!'"

Some fans may be unaware that the song 'Alice In Hell' is based on truth.

"There was a girl named Alison that had fears of the boogie man, monsters under the bed," says Waters. "Her parents ignored her fears, the fear built and built until she actually lost it." The girl was eventually put into a mental institution.
