After six long years of silence, French doom metallers Angellore returned from the shadows with “Black Sun River”, a captivating and sensual eight-minute piece. They have followed up with the 11 minute track, “Falling Birds”:

Frontman Walran comments: “This song, the first written for the album, encapsulates everything Angellore is about. Doom death and gothic metal in equal measure, the interplay of our three vocalists, emotional guitar solos, piano melodies, romantic lyrics… all enriched by guest musicians on oboe, flute, and bass clarinet. We put our hearts and souls into this one. We hope you enjoy it.”

The band’s new album, Nocturnes, will be released on May 15th. You can now pre-order the album at a special price here.

Along with the digital version, the band also has some new merch to celebrate the release of the new album via Bandcamp. Go to this location to check it out.

For nearly twenty years, Avignon’s Angellore have ensorcelled and delighted fans and critics alike with their unique blend of gothic doom, folkloric influence, drama, storytelling and grand emotion; weaving traditional instruments into the rich layers of sound that have characterised remarkable, enthralling albums like 2012s Errances, and 2020s acclaimed Rien Ne Devait Mourir, described by Angry Metal Guy as painting “a despairingly beautiful picture for the listener to enjoy.”

Written over years and recorded in multiple locations across Europe, Nocturnes birth has been far from easy. However, all the trials and tribulations of its creation have added to the poignancy and power of its final splendour. Across five epic and immersive tracks Angellore transport the listener to a different world; a world of storm-tossed nights and desperate love, of magic, majesty and melancholy. Deep rivers of emotion run through every moment of this mesmerizing album as flute, oboe, bass clarinet, cello and piano entwine with the powerful guitars and vibrantly varied vocals to create richly textured layers of sound that embrace, then consume. Nocturnes will capture the hearts of all those who give themselves over to its twilight enchantment.
