Michael Bauer, the Restaurant Critic from the San Francisco Chronicle has named Tres Agaves, a restaurant part-owned by rocker SAMMY HAGAR, as one of the Top Ten in the San Francisco area. His review reads as follows:

"Good, moderately priced Mexican food has largely been missing from the Bay Area, and Tres Agaves (130 Townsend St.) go a long way in correcting that.

This grand, warehouse-size restaurant is a partnership between Joseph Manzare of Globe, Zuppa and the newly opened Pescheria; Sammy Hagar, the rocker who heads up Cabo Wabo Enterprises; and Julio Bermejo, the owner of Tommy's Mexican Restaurant and one of the country's Tequila authorities.

With this combination, it's little wonder that the food is excellent, the interior is as noisy as a rock concert and scores of Tequilas are used for what are truly the best margaritas in the city.

Among the food offerings, there are great carnitas, gorditas and chile rellenos stuffed with cheese and huitlacoche, a corn fungus that is to Mexico what the truffle is to France. All main courses come with four side dishes: cabbage salad, refried beans, black beans in epazote and green poblano rice."
