11) ENFORCER - From Beyond (Nuclear Blast)
Swedish heavy metal act Enforcer released their new album, From Beyond, earlier this year and it was a hit with the scribes almost hitting our top ten!
"From Beyond is faster, heavier, louder, darker and more vicious all at the same time without losing a tiny bit of what Enforcer stand for," vocalist and guitar player Olof Wikstrand commented. "A fist in the face of all current trends and a stake through the throat of modernity. Total metal!"
In his 8.0/10 review scribe Mark Gromen wrote:
Fourth album from the young, traditional minded Swedes, two of whom also play in Black Trip (drummer Jonas Wikstrand and guitarist Joseph Tholl, who moonlights on vocals, in the other act). “Destroyer” leaps from the speakers, red-lining guitars and high pitched wails from the start. Things rarely slow down throughout the course of the other eight songs (plus “Hungry They Will Come” instrumental). Just as it should be! The title cut is one exception. Mid-tempo, it (briefly) veers into a dancing ABBA inspired lilt. Never can discount that '70s export's influence on their homeland.
