Chania Rock Fest – Days Are Hot & The Music Is Hotter!
July 9, 2019, 5 years ago
Donington, and the English festivals are known for inclement weather. Wacken is notorious for mud....so why do we metalheads endure such obstacles? It's not necessary, find sunshine, warmth and beautiful scenery! Think about adding the two-day Chania Rock Fest, on the island of Crete, to your summer festival calendar.
This year the line-up included one of the rare Demons & Wizards dates, as well as ex-Nightwish chanteuse Tarja, Uli Jon Roth, Rotting Christ, Scottish NWOBHM stalwarts Holocaust, Tunisia's Carthogods, Sinheresy (from Italy) and Greek talents Doomocracy, Decipher, and all-female cover band, Diamond Signs. The prices are fair and housed atop an old fortress, overlooking the ocean and 14th century Venetian harbor. What's not to like? Come for the metal, stay for the history, or the crystal clear waters, or the seafood, or.... Here's a sample of the musical nightlife. A full report will soon be posted.
