In a new interview with Pyromusic, DESTROYER 666 guitarist Shrapnel discusses the band's upcoming tour. The following is an excerpt:

Q: A lot of blackened thrash bands have followed in the wake of the band in recent years. Was part of the motivation for reconvening for this album based in a mindset of, 'well, let's show them all how it's really done?'

A: "We just do what we do. We want to create the music that we want to hear, it's really that simple. I don't feel competitive with anyone else or any other bands - the competition is with ourselves, trying to write better music then we have previously."

Q: A lot of bands who play a similar style seem to focus on being as fast and brutal as possible, while sometimes forgetting about songcraft and melody. Is being able to manage this something you pride yourself on and how long did it take for the band to achieve this kind of songwriting balance?

A: "That's something that we have tried to fine tune with the Defiance album. In fact it's something that we have been trying to better with every album. We want memorable songs, like the classic heavy metal songs from the past."
