Black metallers EPISODE 13, are due to join a line up that includes GORGOROTH, MOONSPELL and AGNOSTIC FRONT, at the four day Metal Heads Mission Festival, one of the largest annual festivals held in the Ukraine. The festival takes place over 6 days from the 4th to the 9th of August, and the band will take to the stage on the 4th, alongside the day’s headliners SAMAEL.

One of the longest established and best known from amongst the black metal bands in Turkey, Episode 13 have embarked on a concerted effort to spread their music throughout Europe and the rest of the world. Eager to stress that the band has neither religious nor political concerns, drummer Nursuz was recently quoted as saying “To us, the music is everything, and getting as many people as possible to hear it is our aim. Black metal has always encouraged people to think for themselves, outside of the norm; and from the comments we receive from Black Metal fans that have stumbled across us - when it comes to music, they don’t allow themselves to be swayed by anything other than how it sounds. If they like it, they like it, regardless of anything else. But we are not naïve. We know there is some resistance out there. We just hope that more people will be open enough to listen, and that Episode 13’s music will speak for itself”.

With their latest album Pitch Black due for imminent release, the band was recently re-united with their original vocalist Ozan Akyol, when he returned to front the band after an absence of two years. Together with Nursuz and guitarist Murat, Akyol founded Episode 13 in 2001, and his input into the band has been consistent, even during his absence. In a move away from the slightly more melodic aspects of their previous albums, the nine-track “Pitch Black” will show a faster, more aggressive side to the band, as can be heard on “Hate Universe”, a track from the new album that has been added to Episode 13’s MySpace Page at www.myspace.com/episode13, where tracks from the previous ablum “Tabula Rasa” are available for free download, along with a special “taster” version of the title track from “Pitch Black”.
