Composer and guitarist JOHNNY NEWMAN began an aspiring project when he hired metal legends Steve DiGiorgio (TESTAMENT, DEATH, ICED EARTH) and Yanic Bercier (GONE IN APRIL, QUO VADIS) for his upcoming album, More Than Ever.

With his talent, he is now looking to make his mark in the fight against human trafficking. Newman's single, 'Damages', featuring mezzo soprano Ksenia Berestovskaya, is a highly aggressive and driving composition. And while it does feature numerous meter changes and some of Yanic's most technical drumming to date, the song is still accessible in its vocal melodies and compositional layout. It is this balance, along with its vocal content, that has brought Newman to release this single with 100% of the proceeds going towards the Community Coalition Against Human-Trafficking (CCAHT).

Having worked with trafficking victims, the CCAHT additionally provides training and awareness for the community and focuses on making it harder to traffick in East Tennessee. Newman became involved with the coalition in 2009 when he raised money through his concert with the University of Tennessee Studio Orchestra for Not For Sale, a national organization that seeks to re-abolish slavery. He has since become passionate about making a difference in this fight and is using his music to do so.

"It's a real tragedy when the freedom we so take for granted is taken away in the name of drugs and prostitution," said Newman, "We really hope to make a difference here in Tennessee with this single."

'Damages' is currently available for digital download on iTunes, Rhapsody, and Amazon MP3 and will soon be followed by the album, More Than Ever, this September. DiGiorgio and Bercier are featured on bass and drums throughout, the record was engineered and mixed by Bercier at WaveTransform Recording Studio, and mastered by Tom Morris at Morrisound.
