Bang Your Head! 20th Year - Day 1: Sweating More Than A Greek Banker!
July 18, 2015, 9 years ago
Dehydration, alcohol poisoning, severe sunburn... this trifecta the fans don't need. Metal is supposed to be dangerous, but not potentially lethal. Talk about death metal... With temperatures nearing triple digits (or closing in on 40, for those on the Celsius scale), the initial day of Bang Your Head! - held in Balingen, Germany - was hot. To celebrate the 20th annual installment, Bang Your Head opted for a third day, commencing on Thursday July 16th, rather than its two-day (Friday begun) formula. As such, there's a greater number of total bands and the after-hours, indoor stage starts earlier and runs till the wee hours of the morning. The day kicked off with Onslaught and ran the gamut of metallic sub-genres, including sets from Hardcore Superstar, the ironically named H.E.A.T., pummeling performances by Grand Magus and the always brilliant Death Angel, as well as snippets of overlapping shows from Sonata Arctica, a stormer from Enforcer, plus Orden Ogan, W.A.S.P. and the evening's headliner, Sabaton, complete with a stage filled with military hardware and props.
