After taking 3 years off from working the big stage I knew it would take one of my favorites, Coheed And Cambria, to bring me back. I arrived at The Orange Peel in Asheville, NC a little too early and they we’re letting in some of the VIP guests to participate in a Q&A session and early merch access. Once the Q&A was over, they let another group of VIP guests in and much to my surprise someone from the Coheed camp told me to go ahead and go in. From there the band got back on stage to perform an acoustic version of Love Gun by KISS and it was glorious!

1 hour after general admission entry, Sheer Mag took the stage. A 5-piece rock band from Philadelphia with deep roots in ‘70s rock with a punk vibe. Great stage presence and a very authentic classic sound. They sounded and looked the part, and they take you back to a time when rock music was raw and free spirited.

With only a single opening band, Coheed And Cambria took the stage at 9 PM and blistered through classics like “A Favor House Atlantic”, “Welcome Home”, “Devil In Jersey City”, “No World for Tomorrow” and opener “In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3” as well as newer bangers like “Shoulders & Liars Club”.  Coheed And Cambria have always had amazing musicianship and stage presence and production which always make for an amazing live experience. I tell people often that they have something for everyone and you can tell that with one look into the audience. With their special blend of metal, pop, rock, folk, classic rock its no wonder that everyone from the metal guys to the punks to the emo scene full embrace them.  Do yourself a favor and check them out on this tour or on their summer tour with Dance Gavin Dance.
