HELL'S HEROES FESTIVAL - Day 1: Holy Hell - POSSESSED, LIEGE LORD, EXCITER & A Dirty Dozen
March 25, 2023, a year ago
The initial foray into the world of outdoors/open air festivals was a rousing success, in part due to the forecasted precipitation failing to materialize, but mostly down to a stellar line-up of fresh-faced metal acts.
Chicago, female fronted hard rockers Midnight Dice christened the lawn stage. Swedish youngsters Century were the find of the day, blending speed and traditional chops into an intriguing mix. Big things await these guys! Visigoth had the crowd singing along, those that weren't jumping over the barricade. Philly dark lords Morgul Blade debuted a pair of new tracks, to great response. Gatekeeper offered a wealthy dose of speed. Spell cast (ahem) a spell on the crowd.
Exciter ran through the classics. Ross The Boss played a set entirely culled from his Manowar metal daze. Good to see Joe Comeau and Liege Lord again, under the stars & cover of night. Hallas, were one of the most anticipated bands of the weekend and rose to the occasion, much more animated than previously witnessed.
Possessed, were the evening's headliner, laying down a vicious set of death metal. A full report will be posted soon, in the meantime, here's a little visual evidence of the good times.
