IN THIS MOMENT, HELLYEAH - Beauty And The Beasts In Asheville
July 19, 2016, 8 years ago
It was a mixed crowd for In This Moment & Hellyeah for the Hellpop Tour. We had the glam guys and girls for ITM and the tough guy, beer chugging crowd for Hellyeah. But, as expected with the metal community, all played well together and had a great time.
Hellyeah’s set was full of the loud aggressive blood splattered metal that one would expect from this, seemingly permanent, metal supergroup. Chad Gray, on many occasions, insisted on circle pits and the crowd happily obliged as long as the group provided the sound track. After a night of blistering metal the band seemed to close out with a softie with the Phil Collins cover “I Don’t Care Anymore”.
Next up, the Madonna of metal, the ultimate femme fatale herself, Maria Brink and In This Moment. Complete with back up dancers with synchronized dancing, theatricals, light show and costume changes, the band actually won over the tough guy crowd. With the whole stage show thing going on the band still cranked out the music with no breaks at all and rocked the crowd from the second they came on stage ‘til the second the house lights came on. ITM blasted through mostly songs from the past two, and most successful, albums but threw a few oldies in there for the longtime fans.
Overall it was a very high energy night and great energy and made for a memorable night in Asheville, NC. Be sure to catch the bands on tour when they come near your city.
