During his years away from fronting DESTRUCTION, Schmier issued a trio of platters under the HEADHUNTER moniker. Sadly, these thrash heavy discs were hard to get a hold of (mostly pricey Japanese imports) and are universally regarded as superior to the material bearing the Destruction trademark from that era ('90-'94).

"I'm already working on it," says the tattooed giant, fresh from re-issuing Destruction's greatest hits on Thrash Anthems. "I've talked with my label (AFM overseas), to see if they want it. If not, I'll go somewhere else. We're going to do a three-CD box (Parody Of Life, A Bizarre Gardening Accident and Rebirth), with a new cover, although the old covers will be incorporated too. Extra bonus track, one or two, depending upon what we find and I've written some new Headhunter tracks. Hopefully, the re-release will be out before summer. The label wants it to be a limited edition. Then they want a new album, maybe by the end of the year. It depends how much time schedule I have with Destruction. It's great fun to write something different. There's no pressure. This is my thing and I can do what I want. Sometimes, in Destruction, I have ideas that don't fit, so I use them for Headhunter. I can use anything, from VAN HALEN to thrash metal for Headhunter. I hope to work with the same (musicians), but we'll have to see. Everyone is so busy. I'm talking with the guitarist (Schmuddle, aka Uwe Hoffman) but he's got his own company, distributing music. (Drummer) Jorg (Michael, currently with STRATOVARIUS, but having served in nearly every major German band from the '80s onward) has stuff to do and I don't even know if he's allowed to do it. It's important to get the guitarist in. He wrote a lot of the stuff with me and helped create the Headhunter sound. We were both influenced by the same stuff. It's my baby and I could write the whole album myself, but it would be cool to have the same people involved. We'll have to see, but it looks pretty good. The album's going to come anyway!"
