CARPATHIAN FOREST’s Daniel Vrangsinn will take his own band live for the first time on Friday, September 3rd, when VRANGSINN is scheduled to play the Tribute, in Sandnes, Norway. Anyone expecting to hear black metal in the vein of Carpathian Forest, or indeed of any of the myriad of other black metal bands that bear Vrangsinn’s inimitable stamp, be it as musician or on the production side, including bands such as NATTEFROST, SECHT, DEATHCULT, will be in for a surprise, because this band plays what Vrangsinn himself describes as “psychopop idiosyncrasy with an ounce of psychedelic doom rock”. The live line up will be fronted by Vrangsinn on vocals, while Benjamin Waldejer and Marius Grøtte of PHAT will handle guitar and drums respectively, and DEATHFARE’s Robert Technodrome will be on bass. Full details of the event can be found here.

As well as his work as a musician and producer, Daniel Vrangsinn heads up Misantrof ANTIRecords, the “anti” label he founded in 2007, which makes all its releases available for free download, as well as for purchase in various formats, and allows its artists complete control over their own releases, in keeping with his belief that labels should be there for the benefit of the artists. True to those beliefs, Vrangsinn’s latest release, the multi-media Phobia is available on Misantrof in various formats, including DVD, CD, MP3 and MP4 and he even provides a free CD/DVD burning application, so that anyone downloading “Phobia”, as opposed to buying it, can burn their own DVD should they wish to.

More information about Vrangsinn, including all the details for downloading Phobia can be found at Vrangsinn.net
