CAULDRON Check In From The Road - "Filthy Looking Black Water Erupted From Everywhere And Within Minutes The Room Was Flooded"
November 15, 2009, 15 years ago
Toronto's CAULDRON have launched a diary for their current US tour with MUNICIPAL WASTE, GOATWHORE and PHOBIA. An excerpt is available below.
Wednesday, Nov. 11 - Houston, TX
"We all got to Houston around 2pm and pumped iron in the parking lot. When everyone was ripped some of us went for a walk around the desolate neighbourhood while those with bikes went ripping around town. Across the street from the Meridian was a suspicious looking Chinese place called the Dong Studio. We walked in just to see what it was all about. The old lady was hesitant to say what they did but she said it was $60 for 30 minutes. We said we would come back later and walked back to the venue.Load in was through a freight elevator manned by Jason Decay. Gear was set up, Lone Star's were drank, and shits were taken by many. After soundcheck a lineup was forming around the block of kids arriving early to see their favourite "NWOTM" band. Cauldron played with no mishaps. Phobia played with no mishaps. Then Goatwhore played and all hell broke loose. A really cool kid hanging from a pipe on the ceiling decided to kick a sprinkler off. Filthy looking black water erupted from everywhere and within minutes the room was flooded. Everyone scrambled to get the equipment out before it was destoyed. When everything was loaded back into the trailer, it was decided that Municipal Waste would not be paid unless they played in another larger room in the building. So all the gear went back up the elevator. By this point they weren't charging at the door anymore so all the kids who paid to get in invited their poor friends and before long there was a lineup all the way around the building. This actually turned out to be one of the best shows so far. On the loadout Ian tripped over a wire on the trailer and fell on his knee which is currently purple and twice as large as his other knee."
