The original CORROSION OF CONFORMITY three-piece lineup of Woodroe Weatherman (guitar), Mike Dean (bass, vocals), and Reed Mullin (drums) have been recording their new album at 606 Studios. An interview with the band in the studio can be seen in the YouTube clip below:

COC are about to embark on a US tour. Prior to hitting the road, Mike Dean was interviewed by Metal Kaoz. An excerpt from their Q&A; session follows:

Before solidifying the decision to go on the road with COC did you have some rehearsal time to see if the old chemistry was still between you?

"No. We just agreed to play some shows and started rehearsing. I don't think Reed and Woody spoke to each other for eight or nine years and the next minute we're trying to remember how to play 'Intervention'."

How did you decide to play the entire Animosity album? Can you reproduce the magic of the mid '80s on stage? How close do you think is the mentality of this lineup as compared to the one in the album? After all, everything changes as we are getting older.

"The difference between the COC on the recording sessions for Animosity and COC now is that back then at that age, you know everything! Now I realize that I know nothing. I don't think we try to reproduce exactly the magic of that time. I think we try to see what kind of honest in the moment type of magic we can create right now. But that was what we were trying to do then so it isn't so hard."

The news says that you are working in the studio for a new album; so, are you in the composing process or you do you have demo versions of several songs?

"We made demos of 11 new songs at our rehearsal space and Woody's barn. Some of them were pretty close to the finished idea. I was like the tyrant of preproduction getting everything recorded to see if the ideas held up. One song 'Your Tomorrow' we ended up releasing as a 7'' single. Now we just finished recording everything for real with the band and John Custer producing."
