CRUCIFIED BARBARA Vocalist Checks In From The Road - "If You’re Fuckin' With The Crew You’re Just Disrespecting Us As Well"
December 8, 2009, 14 years ago
CRUCIFIED BARBARA vocalist Mia Coldheart has checked in from the band's current European tour with the following report:
Genova, Zapatha, Italy - December 2nd
"This gig came up when the tour already had started so it wasn’t really promoted well, only by some flyers by the booking agent. But somehow people found the way there anyway, more than we expected at least. The club was a big house, almost like a ruin, with no windows and wind blowing through. Guess it’s cool in the summer, but December..? Anyway after three hours we could finally do our sound check and eat some …pizza.. then we went to sleep in the bus for some hours, since it was too cold in the 'dressing room.'
I love when the audience goes wild, making moshpits, crowd surfing and so on, but tonight I experienced a new behavior that really pissed me off. Some guys were lifting each other up and aimed at my and my monitor / mic, so every time a guy was up in the air the other pushed him towards me up on stage. More than 7-8 times I had to step away from the microphone and stop singing ‘cause I had a drunk guy coming my way over the stage fence. It was totally lack of respect to just fuck up the gig for us, and it was really disappointing that some of the guys in the first support band were a part of it. Most of the times stage diving, mosh pits and stage surfing are just a proof of great support but not when it starts to destroy the gig.
The security was zero as well, so our backline technician had to throw people off stage during the whole gig which also is totally fucked up when the guys started to give him the finger for trying his best to let us do what we’re there to do: play music. So meanwhile I was looking out for boots hitting my face, I tried to sing, and also at the same time watch the people threatening our backline tech which made me feel like just go off stage immediately. Our crew is a part of our band, and if you’re fuckin' with the crew you’re just disrespecting us as well.
This is the first time we see this in 4 years of touring in Italy, so I hope it was just these people, this time. Normally we look forward to Italian gigs ‘cause the audience is always great and we’ve got lots of friends here. I don’t think these guys meant to piss us off (at least I hope so..).
But just a advice, if you like a band, and you necessarily have to get on stage, don’t jump on the band members… it’s pretty obvious it’s a stupid thing to do? I really hope that the rest of you rockers who showed up enjoyed the gig and didn’t notice our anger too much, there were a lot of great supporters tonight and it’s for you that we’re playing!!
We’re in the bus now, heading for Milano. See you there!"
