hot flashes news demolition darkside marginalia

DARKSIDE / DEMOLITION vocalist Wolf has issued the following update on his new project, MARGINALIA:

"Marginalia is a project which I had in mind for a long time. Originally it was given birth by the narration of a good friend of mine, who was born in the midle of two different cultures. She is from France, half European and half Arabian. She told me a lot about the difficulties this brings for her and also a lot about her feelings, fears, cravings, and so on. That's why I offered her to try to bring this into form of lyrics and maybe look for musicians to bring the whole project to live. This happened a long time ago, but I never succeeded in finding the right people for this endeavour. So at one point I guess, she also lost faith in my promise and the contact got lost.

Last year, when I was rehearsing with Demolition for a few summer shows, I got to know Alessandro Vagnoni,

an Italian drummer, whom I had known for his work with RESURRECTURIS. At that time, I didn't know at all, that Alessandro was so much more than a metal drummer. One evening we were sitting in my home and I was playing some of my music to him and he asked me about my plans for the future...and suddenly Marginalia came to my mind. I told him all about this topic and he would agree to cooperate with me. I sent him all the lyrics and only after a week he started sending me tune after tune, all arranged and composed by himself. Drums, bass, guitars, keys....wow !!!

Right now I'm right in the middle of recording the vocals. Whereas Alessandro did nearly everything at home, I just didn't feel comfortable with doing vocals at home, so I decided to record my vocals at the Noiusehead Studio. I know Mario, the owner and engineer, from the recording sessions for the last Demolition album and also from our previous work on the last Darkside album. I must admit, that I really feel great working with him on my vocals, we are having a great time and getting along very well, because he knows me and is able to judge what I'm doing.

The logo for Marginalia has been created by a very good friend of mine, Deather from INDeedhell Magazine from Czech Republic.

Friends, this brings me to another connection with Marginalia: I always wanted to have some of my friends on an album, I mean mainly people I was happy enough to get to know during my musical career as a member of Darkside and Demolition.

So, when everything started to get reality bit by bit, I approached a few friends of mine with the idea and I was really surprised by the fact that most of them agreed to join us on the album. But I will not drop any names here and now or any time before this album will be out.

I think that the music of Marginalia must speak for itself in the first place. But I can assure you that all the people involved are great guys/girls and that you will love what they contributed. I cannot thank them enough! Alessandro has approached a few musicians in his surroundings and we have a live band for this project. Here's the line-up:

The Wolf - vocals

Alessandro "Urmuz" Vagnoni - guitars

Marco Raccichini - guitars

Edoardo Marcantoni - fretted & fretless basses

Andrea Rabuini - drums

Marginalia will be more than a one-time project, that's for sure. I cannot forsee the direction this project is going to take in the future, but for now all I can say is that it is great fun doing this stuff, it gives me the opportunity to work with friends together on the same songs, which is really a dream come true for me. Be sure that all of you will get informed about further details about Marginalia as its time approaches

What does it sound like ? I really can't tell !!! It's 'modern and old school at the same time, thrash, death, black, extreme metal with a seventies touch', a description I heard from a close friend. We have a MySpace site under www.myspace.com/marginaliaproject, where we have uploaded a few instrumental excerpts, feel free to check them out and judge for yourself.

Please keep checking our space for more upcoming news on Marginalia."
