DARKTHRONE's Fenriz - "I Can Honestly Say I Don't Have Any Idols"
December 1, 2007, 16 years ago
Metal-hammer.de conducted an interview with Fenriz, drummer of Norwegian black metal pioneers DARKTHRONE, talking about how Fenriz got in touch with metal, the metal scene in general, its future and the most essential metal albums ever.
A few excerpts follow:
Metal-hammer.de: Who personifies Metal the most for you – and why?
Fenriz: "I can honestly say I don't have any idols. Anyone who listens to the rock, metal and punk history with interest and deepness is a friend of mine. Narrow-minded scene-sters can go stick their head in a pig."
Metal-hammer.de: What’s the best Metal album ever in your opinion?
Fenriz: "It changes from month to month. Right now it's Piece Of Mind by IRON MAIDEN. But a magic start-up album for anyone should be the Live Evil release by BLACK SABBATH. It looks both forwards, backwards and NOW-wards, haha!"
Metal-hammer.de: Which country is your favourite country to tour in – and why?
Fenriz: "Belgium. I just love their mountain expeditions, waffle-bending competitions, t-shirt compilators and cherry trees. Once I was Belgian, but I lost it in a bet."
