According to a DEF LEPPARD update, guitarist Vivian Campbell's participation in the football match Hollywood United - DC United (on October 20th) fortunately did not end up being the disaster that Viv feared it would be (for him) all this time! In fact, things went very well:

"Although we dominated the game, we lost 2-1 to a last minute penalty kick decision that was a dubious call at best. As it happened, it was a storybook ending (Hollywood ending?) as the penalty kick was won and taken in the very last minute of the game by Marco Etchverry - the former DC United player whom we were there to honour. In my opinion it couldn't have been scripted better, although the ex-pros in our team hate to lose any game and didn't seem at all chuffed with the ref's decision. Frank Leboeuf was particularly incensed and suffered a yellow card for his very vociferous - and very French - protestations."

After the game, Viv swapped swapped shirts with John Harkes (a former USA international and Sheffield Wednesday star). More pictures from the event can be viewed here (click left to view Vivian Campbell - he's in the first row, left-hand-side).
