DEF LEPPARD's Rick Allen Drums Up Aid For Amy's House

DEF LEPPARD superstar Rick Allen is drumming up support for a children’s charity by teaming up with The Star to offer fans the chance to bid for two backstage passes to the band’s homecoming show in Sheffield.
The silent auction also includes tickets for the concert - featuring support bands MÖTLEY CRÜE and STEEL PANTHER - at the Motorpoint Arena on Tuesday, December 13th. Tickets alone are worth £45 each.
But 48-year-old Leppard drummer Allen hopes fans will bid big money to join him for a backstage tour of a lifetime. And it’s for a great cause - Amy’s House, a Sheffield respite care centre helping around 70 families with special needs children, aged five to 15. He became its first patron last year.
It costs around £75,000 a year to run, operates for five hours every Saturday and during some school holidays. Plans are to expand the Handsworth area facility from a school base to its own premises, to provide care seven-days-a-week for up to 21-year-olds.
Allen, originally from Dronfield, is known to fans as Thunder God and Black Knight. Like a knight in shining armour he has helped to raise thousands of pounds for charities.
“It’s a pleasure to support the wonderful work of this facility that provides invaluable support to the children but also those close to them,” said the inspirational drummer, who famously overcame the loss of his left arm in a car crash 27-years ago.
